10th Region Boys thoughts, etc.

I haven’t blogged in a while, mostly because I haven’t had the time. However, as I sit in my home for the next 4 nights (Capital Plaza Hotel, Frankfort), I find myself with the time to work on this. We’re 2 weeks from the postseason, and I see the 10th being more wide open than it’s been in the last 10 years. In no way is it the best basketball we’ve seen, but it is certainly going to be an entertaining month and a half.

In the 37th you have the big 3 (Brossart, Campbell, Scott) battling for 2 spots, with no disrespect to Silver Grove and Calvary of course. Seeding has yet to be decided here, which makes it difficult to predict the outcome…but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to! I see Campbell County getting revenge on the crosstown rival Brossart in the District Championship game.

In the 38th, Pendleton County sits undefeated against its district foes and I see no reason why that will change. This district may be the “weakest” of the 4 this year, but the Wildcats will take back to back titles over Harrison County once again.

The 39th district, being held in Brooksville, has the potential to be the most interesting of the tournaments. Bracken County, who in the regular season lost to Mason, gets a chance at revenge on their home floor. The first matchup was a 5 point game, but a prevailing factor could be the status of Junior guard Jacob Hamilton. I keep going back and forth on this one, but today the head says Bracken beats Mason, and in turn defeats their crosstown rival Augusta in the district final to end 17 years of frustration.

The 40th district is a puzzling mess in itself. Paris comes in as the #1 seed, takes on a gritty Bourbon County squad, who’s record is no indication of the quality team they are. It’s difficult to defeat a team 3 times in a season, but I see Paris coming through in this one. Montgomery will defeat GRC to set up a classic district final. Paris defeated MoCo twice on buzzer beating shots…but not this time. The Indians take the 40th and advance to the regional tournament in their home arena as a winner.

As I said, this is how I feel right now and could change as we get closer to tourney time.
